ANP Approves Nomination of 86 Blocks in the Equatorial Margin for Study in Future OPC Cycles
On June 26, the ANP Board of Directors approved the designation of 86 exploration blocks in the Brazilian Equatorial Margin for inclusion in the list of areas under study, with a view to their eventual offering in future cycles of the Permanent Concession Offer (OPC).
The blocks are distributed across three sedimentary basins: Foz do Amazonas, with 36 blocks; Pará-Maranhão, with 25; and Barreirinhas, also with 25. The Board also approved the readjustment of Sector SFZA-AP4, in the Foz do Amazonas offshore basin, to allow for the inclusion of two blocks under study that were outside the previously defined boundaries for the sector. The location of the areas is available in georeferenced data in shapefile format, which may be adjusted in accordance with technical analyses and applicable environmental guidelines.
The inclusion of the blocks in the bidding notices and their offering in future OPC cycles still depend on the completion of certain steps, including an environmental analysis, the issuance of a Joint Statement by the MME and the MMA, and the holding of a public hearing; therefore, the areas will not be included in the 6th OPC Cycle, scheduled for October 7, 2026.
ANP Announces Companies Eligible for the Upcoming Cycles of the Permanent Offer
On June 26, ANP released the list of companies with active registrations that are eligible to participate in the 4th Cycle of the Permanent Production Sharing Offer and the 6th Cycle of the Permanent Concession Offer, both scheduled for October 7, 2026.
To submit bids, either individually or as part of a consortium, registered companies must submit, by July 21, a declaration of interest accompanied by a bid bond for one or more blocks or sectors specified in the current calls for bids. Registered companies that do not submit a declaration of interest by this deadline may still participate, provided they join a consortium with a company that has completed this step.
Under the 4th Cycle of the Permanent Production Sharing Offer, there are 19 registered bidders, 15 of whom were already qualified at the start of the cycle and four of whom registered during the process. The call for bids currently covers 23 blocks in the pre-salt area, located in the Campos and Santos basins.
As for the 6th Cycle of the Permanent Concession Offer, there are 46 companies with active registrations, 36 of which were already qualified at the start of the cycle, and four new registrations were made during the process. The concession call for bids covers 38 sectors, with 495 exploration blocks and five marginal accumulation areas, distributed across 11 sedimentary basins.
